Wednesday, May 28, 2008Police "Situation"Lea called me around 3:45 p.m. this afternoon. A police officer had come to our door and told Lea to stay inside with the doors locked...he said there was a "situation" a couple buildings south in our complex. Like us, when a police officer tells you there is a "situation," you probably do not assume someone spilled some milk and the officers are on scene to make sure the cleanup goes efficiently. I called the police to try and find out what was happening and if I could go get my wife. They wouldn't tell me but did say that the police were likely going to be evacuating the apartments. So I put on my camo and went in. Which is to say I walked over to the apartment and got Lea. I saw some cop cars but nothing right by our apartment. Anyway, we came back to my office and hung out for a while. We just called the police again (it's 5:30 p.m.) and they said the situation has been resolved. They still provided no details but we found this article online. Good times. National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. I'd like to expound on this theme and tell you just a few of the MANY ways Lea makes a difference in MY life every day.
